Six Word Story: Strap Line Angst.

Jul 08, 2013

Eanest Hemmingway famously said that he was extremely proud of a six word story that he wrote, perhaps more so than of any of his other work.

The six words?

For Sale. Baby Shoes. Never Worn.

A few years ago Wired asked a number of writers to take a shot at writing their own six word story. Here are a few of them...

Bush told the truth. Hell froze. - William Gibson

Bang postponed. Not Big enough. Reboot. - David Brin

Dorothy: "F**k it, I'll stay here." - Steven Meretzky

Failed SAT. Lost scholarship. Invented rocket - William Shatner

Computer, did we bring batteries? Computer? - Eileen Gunn

Gown removed carelessly. Head, less so. - Joss Whedon

Dad called: DNA back: He isn’t – Helen Fielding

Now we're not claiming to be literary geniuses, but we do want to join the ranks of those vaunted few who are able to convey such meaning and emotion in so few words. We want a six word strapline that tells the story of Boxego. And truth be told, we're struggling.

The problem is we’re not (just) a social network.

We’re the antithesis of that.

An anti-social network if you will.

Or perhaps unsocial.

We were going to describe ourselves as an enhanced and augmented private or personal social network – but we fear someone else has taken to describing themselves like that previously, so we’re taking a different path. Nor are we (simply) a smart journal or life-logging diary. We’re Boxego. We’re all about you. Whether you’re keeping a track of your significant moments, writing an autobiography or creating a photo journal, sharing treasured memories or tracking your health and fitness goals and progress, creating an archive or legacy for after you’re gone, or simply gathering your thoughts. That’s what makes Boxego hard to describe.

So if you’ve got a better term than “the smart unsocial journaling legacy network”, that tells the story of Boxego in six words, (and that actually means something rather than the collection of words that we've crammed together), please do let us know at info@boxego.com.
