Travis - Box, boxes or both?

Oct 30, 2013

Nobody can pull on those Country & Western heartstrings like quite like Randy Travis can. We came across this song called The Box when we were trying to find a Travis song called Boxes. How weird is that? And more, they’re both about they same subject, after a fashion.

The Randy Travis song is about a box full of memories, keepsakes of a life that a son discovers among his father’s things after he’s gone. A collection of artefacts that shows how much he loved his family, even if he couldn’t tell them. Randy Travis sings The Box.

The Travis song according to frontman Fran Healy is a song written from a father to a son that will endure after he’s gone. “From a father’s point of view,” Healy said in The Metro, “here’s a song if I’m not here and you need my advice, if something happens, here’s the song you can listen to and remember me by and follow instructions.”  Travis sings Boxes.

Sounds like what they need is Boxego in their lives.
